If you're seeking a charming escape that beautifully encapsulates the essence of Kakunodate, look no further than Bukeyashiki no chaya.

Located at 14-1 Kakunodatemachi Omotemachishimocho, Semboku, Akita, this delightful cafe not only serves as a warm refuge from the brisk Japanese winters but also as a gateway to local culinary treasures. The atmosphere is cozy, enhanced by a rustic charm that welcomes guests to unwind and savor an authentic experience.

At Bukeyashiki no chaya, the menu proudly features local specialties that will tantalize your taste buds. One standout offering is the rich and hearty udon noodles, a comforting classic that has left patrons, like customer 'shovel25mm', raving about its perfection. The slippery, chewy texture of the noodles, paired with a savory broth, creates a bowl of warmth that speaks to the soul.

For those looking to experience a truly regional delight, don't miss out on the kiritanpo—another local favorite. As shared by Eli Ta, this dish captures both the flavors of the earth and the attentiveness of the chefs who prepare it, making every bite an exploration of local heritage.

As dessert approaches, indulge in their unique soft serve ice cream, where flavors like chestnut and red bean truly shine. According to Aston Nirvana, the soft serve offers a delightful taste that deviates from the typical milky sweetness, allowing the distinct flavors to emerge in refreshing ways.

While the food shines brightly, the warmth of the cafe's service is equally remarkable. Customers like Nadyne Wee appreciate the genuine hospitality offered by the owner, who speaks English and ensures that each visit is memorable—from helping with parking to ensuring comfortable dining. The ambiance combined with the friendly service makes every moment feel special.

Whether you’re indulging in steaming bowls of oden to combat the cold or enjoying sweet soft serve as a delightful finish, Bukeyashiki no chaya promises a memorable culinary escape. Embrace the spirit of this delightful cafe during your next visit to Kakunodate—you are sure to leave with both a satisfied palate and heartwarming memories.

They have the unique flavor soft serve we tried the chestnut and red bean. Sweet and tasty. They don’t taste milky at all, love it.

Cosy cafe serving both savoury and sweets. We had local specialty noodles and hot Oden for the cold snowy weather. The shop owner lady can speak English as well and was very warm. Her husband also helped us to park 2 cars in front of their shop so we can have lunch there. Ordered their hot matcha paste with mochi and was too sweet for our liking. The soft serve cones were yummy though.
